Oldbury power stations nature trial sightings for the 18/11/12. Highlight THRUSHES and the rare COMMON SCOTERS

On the river
                                                                               Grey heron
                                                     Grey heron with mallerd ducks
  • 30+ mallard ducks
  • 2 grey herons
  • 1 redshank
  • 6 curlew- flew over
  • 2 lapwing- flew over
  • 1 ROCK PIPIT
  • 25+ COMMON SCOTERS- After an influx. Rare from here and they were very distant at 12:30 in the middle of the Severn.
The track to the river

  • 20+ blue tits
  • 3 great tits
  • 3 gold finches
  • 2 long tailed tit
  • 30+ wood pigeons
  • 1 song thrush
  • 3 blackbirds
  • 1 dunnock
  • 1 pied wagtial
  • 20+ starlings
  • 2 curlew heard while walking to the river. They were heard from lagoon 3 where each day they roost in a flock of 200 with other waders like grey plover, ringed plover and dunlin.
  • 1 YELLOW BROWED WARBLER- still here although many people saw it but i didn't. I only heard it today in the trees. Same area as yesterday although today he was sighted on the other side of the road where there's another wooded area. He may not be sighted tomorrow if conditions are right but he may be feeding again in the same area as today/yesterday

Pond bird sightings:

  • 2 male blackbirds
  • 2 great tits
  • 1 robin
  • 1 wren
Other news:

  • 2 RED ADMIRAL BUTTERFLIES (Rare for November)
  • 4 DRAGONFLIES by the pond. ( rare for November)
