16/11/12 Garden sightings.The rarest bird a FIRE CREST.

A foggy start and end to the day but there was lots to see.

In the trees:

FIRE CREST preening
  • 4 goldfinches
  • 13 chaffinches
  • 2 green finches
  • 6 blackbirds- 3 1st winter males, 1 adult male and 2 female blackbirds
  • 15+ blue tits
  • 6 great tits
  • 30+ starlings
  • 30+ jackdaws
  • 14 wood pigeons
  • 30+ house sparrows
  • 1 wren
  • 1 robin
  • 1 dunnock
  • 4 GOLDCRESTS
  • 2 REDWING
  • 1 FIRECREST a very rare bird to the town and to be in the berry bush at the back behind the garden preening was an amazing sight. This was the First ever sighting for me and because only a small number of firecrests pass through and winter in britian and even fewer breed its very special to be here. There was a sighting at Sand Point today where the HOOPOE was as well as Moulden country park and several other sightings in Britian.

Garden

  • 1 robin 2nd record in the garden
  • 1 pied wagtial (on the roof)
