SPARROWHAWKS AND RING NECKED PARAKEET- 2/10/13 garden sightings

A reasonably good day although being cloudy and with a heavy rain shower. Sightings, as usual on a week day, any time after 15:40.

Trees

  • 1 blue tit
  • 11 gold finches
  • 1 wood pigeon
  • 2 collard doves
  • Corvids
Flying over

  • 50+ common gulls (morning) with a few more in the afternoon
  • Black headed gulls
  • Lesser black backed gulls
  • 1 buzzard
  • Corvids
  • 2 female sparrowhawks
  • 2 swallows
  • Starlings
  • 10+ wood pigeons
  • 1 pied wagtail
  • 1 grey wagtail- Flew over calling
Opposite house

  • 1 lesser black backed gull in winter plumage
  • Starlings
  • Feral pigeons
Garden

  • 1 SPARROWHAWK female- 1st for garden and landed on the fence. Two flew in very fast and one landed on our fence while another female landed on next doors trampoline.

    Other news

  • 1 RING NECKED PARAKEET- 1st I've ever seen in Berkeley but flew from, I think, a bush and flew very fast past the hall and over a charity shop before disappearing. I didn't further look for the bird but hope it'll make an appearance around our garden.
